Our Rates
Powell Relocation Group, Inc. started back in
1962 in Grand Rapids, MI. as Bill’s Delivery Service. The
founder, Bill Powell, is still active in the business and is proud
to be Grand Rapids oldest and largest
locally owned and operated Moving & Storage Company. Bill Powell
hasn’t
forgotten what made him successful, (repeat business and referral business
from satisfied customers) in the Grand Rapids community.
How are local moves priced?
Local moves are charged by hourly rates plus materials.
Even though Powell Relocation Group provides experienced and well
compensated full time movers, our
rates remain competitive, even with the small guys. Some local
movers will paint a low cost picture over the phone, but at the end
of the
move hand over an invoice that is way off the mark. Our philosophy
is any job that is estimated to take 2 movers more than 6 hours should
have a relocation specialist do an on-site visual estimate at
your home. This is at no charge and will help eliminate the unknown
at
the
end of the move day. The worst thing that can happen is for the
move team to show up without enough help or not a big enough truck to
accommodate the job.
How important is a move coordinator?
Powell will assign a personal move coordinator to your
move. Your coordinator will play a vital roll in communicating your
needs to our dispatchers
and drivers. YOU CANNOT OVER COMMUNICATE ON YOUR MOVE!!! So we
ask you to keep in close touch with your Powell coordinator and provide
him
or her all phone numbers and information. Your coordinator can
make arrangements to have appliances disconnected, grandfather clocks
and
pool tables serviced, etc. Your coordinator will be in touch with
you before, during and after your move. PRG’s coordinators
have an average of 15 years experience and will make sure all of the
details,
that make a move successful, will be handled.
Do we need a semi to expedite
your move?
Our relocation specialist can tell you if your job requires a semi-truck
to speed up your move process. There can be major cost savings on some
moves if the right size moving equipment is utilized. Some movers only
have small trucks which will take more time to load; This results in an added expense to the customer.
Will your mover protect your floors
and home?
Powell Relocation Group provides floor protection
at both origin and destination at no charge. We have special runners
to place on carpets and hardwood. We also use door jam protectors in the
main entry, use plastic stretch wrap on all upholstered goods (prior
to handling and
at no charge) and pad banisters.
Is there an extra charge to move pianos and bulky
articles?
Powell Relocation Group doesn’t charge extra for bulky articles. Our hourly
rate covers moving all items. Some movers will charge extra to move bulky
articles such as big screen TV’s, freezers, washers and dryers,
and pianos which will increase the cost.
Is your job too big or too small
for Powell Relocation Group?
No job is too big or too small for Powell Relocation Group! We handle many small
jobs that only require 2 movers for a couple hours and we are capable
of handling the largest homes in the area with ease. We use the same
experienced staff to perform all moves. The average experience of our
movers is 15 years.
